How Holo handles account information, farm records and optional GPS task recording.
About this policy
Holo ("we", "our" or "us") provides a farm management platform, including our website, dashboard and mobile app. This policy explains how we collect, use and share personal information when you use these services.
If you use Holo through a farm or other organization, that organization manages access to its operational records. Contact your organization about its own use of those records and Holo about the operation of our services.
Information we collect
- Account information: your name, email address, phone number, organization, profile image and account identifiers, where provided.
- Farm and operational information: records you or your organization enter, such as fields, crops, tasks, observations, photographs, messages and uploaded documents.
- Billing and support information: payment and billing information and communications with our support team.
- Location information: location used for map features and, when you choose GPS task recording, the information described below.
- Technical and usage information: app and device details, installation identifiers, usage events, errors and diagnostic information used to operate and improve the service. Diagnostics may include session replays of interactions with the app.
Optional GPS task recording
GPS recording is optional. When you start it, recording can continue while your phone is locked or you use other apps. People who can access the task can see your route and progress, including while you are working.
What is recorded
When you choose to track a supported task, Holo records location coordinates and capture times, including available start and finish locations. Records may include accuracy, movement speed and direction, pause and recording events, routes, boundaries and estimated worked areas. These are associated with your account, farm, task and an app installation identifier. Less accurate locations may be retained even when they are excluded from route or area calculations.
Background recording and controls
Recording starts when you choose GPS tracking in the app and grant location permission. With background location permission, it continues when you switch apps or lock your phone. Ordinary task work remains available without GPS.
You can manually pause or stop GPS in the task's GPS section, or complete the task to stop recording. Signing out or changing accounts or farms also stops recording. You can revoke location permission in device settings. Automatic stationary pause uses less frequent location monitoring so recording can resume when movement is detected; it is different from manually pausing or stopping GPS.
Recording depends on device permissions, GPS reception, battery and operating-system behaviour. Force-quitting the app can interrupt it. Worked area and acres covered are estimates.
Offline recording and Live Activities
Locations are saved on your device before upload. If your connection is unavailable or upload cannot be authenticated, recordings remain queued for later synchronization. The dashboard may therefore show the last uploaded location rather than your current location.
When Live Activities are enabled, task details, status, elapsed time and estimated area may appear on your Lock Screen or Dynamic Island and may be visible to someone looking at your phone. Supported controls let you pause or resume GPS and open the task. You can manage Holo's Live Activities in iOS settings.
Storage and retention
Uploaded task locations, routes, endpoints and calculated areas are stored as farm records. There is currently no automatic expiry period configured for GPS task records. Stopping GPS, completing a task or signing out stops future recording; it does not delete historical recordings.
Offline GPS points remain on the device until they can be synchronized or removed. Acknowledged points are removed from the upload queue. Signing out does not erase unsent recordings; they remain associated with the original account and are not reassigned to the next person who signs in.
Contact us about retention or removal of your information, including records held by your organization and any backup copies. Any applicable legal retention requirement needs to be considered when handling a deletion request.
Your choices, access and deletion
You can choose Start without GPS, pause or stop a recording, and change location and Live Activity permissions in your device settings. Withdrawing location permission prevents further recording but does not remove information already uploaded.
You can initiate account deletion in the mobile app under Account → Danger Zone → Delete account. You can also contact legal@holo.ag to request access to, correction of or deletion of personal information, including GPS records. We may need to verify your identity to protect your information.
Where applicable law provides them, you may also have rights to restrict or object to processing, obtain a portable copy of information, withdraw consent and complain to a data protection authority. For records managed by your organization, contact its administrator as well so your request can be coordinated.
Data security
We use technical and organizational measures to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure and destruction. No transmission or storage system can guarantee absolute security. Keep your account credentials and device secure and notify us if you suspect unauthorized access.
